When I Say Anything...

Well...it seems that I've had a statement I made to a Friend challenged. I told her that I would do anything that I could to support her during her pregnancy. The only caveat that I placed was that She and her Hubby have to handle the financial part...other than that, I would do anything I could to make this special part of her life easier.

Yesterday, I received an email from her saying that if I was really going to do anything for her, I would join her on her pregnancy diet...in fact, her exact words were "I think you should start following the same dietary guidelines I’m following and show your support for me and this pregnancy."

How could I not honor such a simple request?? As of this Sunday (I've been given special dispensation to enjoy myself until then) I will be following the same diet that she is on.

All in all, the worst thing that happens is I support one of the people I cherish most in this world while loosing a couple pounds. Everybody wins...and I prove that when I say I'll do anything...I mean ANY THING.

Enjoy your views today everyone...I'm enjoying mine.

WHEW!!!

Just a quick update....looks like I didn't really buy anything...I would have had a phone call or email by now if I did.

Right?

I mean...someone would have wanted my down-payment or at least confirm a delivery address...wouldn't they??

I'm just gonna' operate like I didn't buy anything...until someone proves otherwise...

Enjoy your views today, everyone!! I've got wallpaper to put up here at the office today...hurray for my view. (Please note dripping sarcasm in that last phrase...LOL!!)

I'm Not Sure...

So, I went to the Auto Show yesterday and saw lots of very interesting sights...and the cars were nice too. The only problem is that I think I may have bought a new truck without realizing it...I'm half expecting a call from a dealer any time now...

How can I not be sure if I bought a new truck or not?? Easy - I'm a boy.

I know, I know...I use that excuse often, but this time it's the only excuse that I have.

I remember green eyes, red hair, a great smile and a tight leather mini-dress...I remember a 45 minute conversation...I remember that she had a really firm handshake, not the limp, "Go away, you bother me" kind of handshake that most models give guys that are way beneath their level...

I don't remember signing anything...but that doesn't necessarily mean anything...

Oh well...I guess I just need to wait and see.

Enjoy your views today everyone...I'll try to do the same.

A Lucky Man...

I suppose that's how I should describe myself...lucky. For the first time in many years (more than I care to remember, actually)...I get to share Valentine's Day wishes with many people that each hold a piece of my heart.

So to each of 'my girls' (as a friend once commented) I have the following thoughts for you today...

Miranda - I'm so happy that you and your g/f are taking that next step with her immigration and as I once mentioned...I'll be there to dance at your wedding. I cherish the closeness that we share and wish that those nearest you would just open their eyes. Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Anna - With all that I am, I hope that this Valentine's Day brings you what your heart most deeply desires. I adore you and count on you to keep telling me when I'm being stupid. You're not only far more effective than a cricket...but you're a damn sight cuter too! Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Sugar - We've been down a very long and twisty road to get where we are today, but I wouldn't change where we stand for anything. I look forward to whatever the future brings, knowing that you walk with me. I love you and wish you all the happiness in the world with Biker Boy. Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Mist - You are truly a unique lady. I am constantly amazed by the way your mind works and I'm enjoying our conversations. I hope that this Valentine's Day brings happiness to you and yours. Happy Valentine's Day!!!

You - Yes, I saved you for last...what more can I say to you than I already have? You share my joys and my fears...you listen and you advise...you're always there for me. I cherish the relationship that we've built and the road ahead may be long, but I know that you will always be right there with me...just as I am for you. I hope this Valentine's Day brings you all that you deserve. Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Each of you are huge parts of my support network...heck, my life and I thank you with all that I am for being here. Happy Valentine's Day!

I Had...

This past weekend I had big plans. I was going to take my Son to the Chicago Auto Show...it was going to be a special bonding moment between Daddy, Boy, Cars and Car-Models...it was going to be fantastic. Then Friday I got the phone call that destroyed those plans.

My Son was running a fever and was not going to be able to even spend the weekend with me. Never mind going to the Auto Show. Instead of being able to bond with my boy over the magic that is the Auto Show...I spent the weekend talking to him on the phone and worrying about when his fever was going to break.

It turns out that his fever broke very late Saturday night and he spent all day Sunday eating everything that he could find in TB's house. He's home from school today and is supposed to go tomorrow, but we'll see if there even is school tomorrow - they're expecting between 3 and 8 inches of fresh snow between 6PM tonight and tomorrow. I talked to him earlier today and he was full of energy and feeling, in his own words, "like a caged aminal"...so I know he's doing OK. I miss the little man, but if all goes well, I'll see him tomorrow night.

OK...that's all that's been happening with me...hope you all got a shot at enjoying your own views this weekend. My view is certainly picking up...

A Simple Defense

This week I have been following the ongoing and expanding coverage of the charges against space shuttle pilot Lisa Marie Nowak (Captain US Navy). For those that might not know what this is all about - Lisa has been charged with Battery, Destruction of Evidence, Attempted Burglary, Attempted Kidnapping and Attempted Murder of Colleen Shipman (Captain US Air Force).

It occurs to me that Lisa's attorney needs only post a very simple defense for her...she's obviously not guilty of anything more than just wanting to scare Colleen, just like she claims. How can I make such a statement? It's easy...let's look at the facts.

1 - Lisa Marie Nowak is a pilot that has been promoted to the rank of Captain in the US Navy. In the Navy, the rank of Captain is a senior officer and promotion to this rank are few and far between as there is little room at the top of the ladder...only the best and brightest get to this rank.

2 - Lisa Marie Nowak has not only been accepted by NASA as an astronaut, but she has qualified as (and performed as) a pilot of the Space Shuttle. This pushes her from being listed among the best and brightest to being listed among the elite.

3 - By direct logical reasoning, one can not earn the right to be listed among the elite if they are not an over-achiever. An over-achiever would never attempt something and not finish it.

4 - Colleen Shipman is a Captain in the US Air Force. In the Air Force, the rank of Captain is a middle officer and promotion to this rank is common. Colleen obviously is in awe of all that Lisa has done in her career and due to inter-branch rivalries she has blown the entire encounter with Lisa out of proportion.

It is clear that all Lisa wanted to do was talk to and scare Colleen a little. If she wanted to kidnap or murder Colleen, the police would still be looking for the body. The attempted burglary charge is also obviously false because - again - if Lisa wanted to steal from Colleen, she would have had Colleen's possessions in her car when the cops arrested her. The destruction of evidence charge stems from an identification made by Colleen - basically a 'Yeah, that's her' statement and the battery charge is a 'she said - she said' situation.

Any lawyer worth their pay should be able to get this dismissed...even without having to resort to the insanity plea because Lisa wore adult diapers while she drove 900 miles non-stop to confront Colleen...

Oh well....that's my view on this anyway...I'm sure you'll all have your own views on the subject. I hope they amuse you as much as my view amuses me...

Hi, My Name is Mr G...

They say that the first step to recovery from any addiction is admitting that you have a problem. Today, I admit that the line between enjoyment and addiction is becoming very blurry. I'm positive that I don't want or need help, but at the same time I'm equally positive that this needs to be dragged into the light of day. From previous posts you all know that I LOVE chocolate. Today, however, I have a confession to make.

I have been craving chocolate so badly for the past week that this morning I went into the freezer and took out a one pound bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips and brought them to work to snack on during the course of the day. I got to the office this morning at 7:15...by 8:30 half the bag was gone.

I. Do. Not. Remember. Opening. The. Bag.

My chocolate-beasty is running out of control today and I've provided him with fuel. I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to remain calm...sugar and caffeine overload is moments away, I'm sure...

So I'm going to go and stare out the window for a while then pretend to do some work...I hope you all get to enjoy your views today. I'll be enjoying mine...I think...

Just Like Tevye...

If I were a rich man...since Saturday morning I've been thinking this over and over...because if I were a rich man, I would not be stuck in a state that is going to have a high temperature of 8 degrees (that's -13 C) with winds that drive the temp down to -20 degrees (that's just absurdly cold on any scale) and now as I glance out the window I see snow falling...

OK...let's see...how to make a lot of money in a little time...

1 - Rob Bank...nope too risky...

2 - Marry rich old woman and kill her for inheritance...nope too Anna Nichole Smith...

3 - Kidnap Oprah's cat and hold for ransom...hell no - robbing a bank is less risky, that woman's cash buys lots of guys who know how to make people disappear...

4 - Sell kidney on the Black Market...nope...TB comes up missing a kidney and the cops would come right to my front door...

5 - Sell story of steamy love affair between Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie to the Enquirer...nope...even they are over those two skanks...

6 - Get adopted by Donald Trump...no, that won't work either...I would have to change my name then and Mr T is already taken...

7 - Sign Multi-Year Professional Sports Contract... no...that requires major talent that I just don't possess...

8 - Sell Amway...no...I respect myself and those around me too much to get trapped into that Ponzi Scheme...

9 - Build a website selling get rich quick information to the masses...hmmm...this one has some merit...Just send $29.95 for my quick success packet outlining what I did to become a multi-millionaire...step 1...figure out that there's no such thing as getting rich quick...step 2...build a website advertising a quick success packet for $29.95...step 3...mail 1 page flyer outlining above business strategy...step 4...go to jail for consumer fraud...OK, this one's a no too...

10 - Ask my grant writing friend to hunt for contributions for a grant for me to help fight the crippling effects of 'aes alienum maximus' (Latin for MAJOR DEBT)...I would even be willing to cut her a check from the proceeds for her time...Hey - I know you're out there...I know you're reading this...find me some money, girl!!!

OK...so I'm putting all my get rich quick eggs into one basket...not the first time and probably not the last...but at least it's a cute, witty and resourceful little basket this time...

Enjoy your views today everyone!! I'm going to sit here and watch the snow while I wait for my ship to come in!!

If I were a rich man,
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
All day long I'd biddy biddy bum.
If I were a wealthy man.

Apparently...

I learned something new while watching the Superbowl last night. Apparently your home team can not win the game if your quarterback fumbles 3 times and throws 2 interceptions while the other team's quarterback is able to pass at will and their running backs are able to gobble up over 100 yards against your defense. Let's just say that even the 2 year old son of one of my best friends was calling the Bear's names by the middle of the 3rd quarter.

The game started so well...the opening kickoff was returned for a touchdown...our quarterback threw a touchdown pass...then Mr. Manning decided to start playing. He proceeded to carve our defense into nice little chunks that the rest of the Colts could chew up and spit out.

Oh well...what's another 21 years before another Superbowl appearance??? I'll still be young enough to enjoy watching the game....I think.

I'm going to be self-medicating with chocolate and pixie stix today if anyone needs me. I hope that you all get a chance to enjoy your views today.

Cat's In The Cradle...

So, my Son and I were discussing the upcoming Super Bowl and what our plans were for the day. Since it's his weekend with TB, he's not sure he'll be able to watch the game, but he really, really, really wants to watch it. I'm going to have to talk to TB and try to convince her to let him see at least part of the game. Before you all even ask...yes, TB is so retarded that she believes that keeping my Son from watching the Super Bowl will in some way harm me. Yes, TB is still trying to use my Son as a weapon in this damn divorce...BUT the good news is that we are creeping slowly closer and closer to the next court date and TB still has not signed the paperwork that the judge instructed her to sign. Each day is one day closer to me getting everything and her having nothing.

Sorry...I got distracted from the purpose of this post....my Son and I were talking and I flat out asked him "Who's going to win?"

Without batting an eye he shouts "The Bears!!!"

I followed up with "Why?"...and without any hesitation he shouted...

"Because they stink!!! No...wait...that's not right...." and sat there looking confused. Then we both started to laugh uncontrollably. My Son even got to the point where he started to roll back and forth on the family room floor, holding his sides and gasping for air in between laughs.

It seems that my boy has inherited more than just my looks (poor kid)...he's also got my sense of humor (poor, poor kid).
...My Boy was just like me, yeah,
He'd grown up just like me...
And the Cat's in the cradle with a silver spoon,
Little Boy Blue and the Man in the Moon....

Enjoy your weekends everyone! Hopefully you'll have a chance to sit, relax and enjoy your view...I'm going to enjoy mine...right up until my Bears start playing on Sunday night, then things may get a little tense.

GO BEARS!!!!!!!!
