In My Life

While I've been off waiting for either some signed papers to arrive or a trip to court to lift my curse, I've had lots of time to listen to music in an attempt to soothe my mind enough so I could meditate and sleep. I've listened to days of jazz, blues and early rock-n-roll. I've listened to hours of big band, ska and punk rock. Heck, I've even listened to minutes of polka, disco and country.

All of the music I've listened to makes me remember different thing and people...and one song in particular keeps reminding me of all of you - the faithful few that keep popping in to see if I'm back blathering like the idiot that I tend to be from time to time.

In My Life - The Beatles

There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends
I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
there is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more

Thank you all for putting up with my sporatic appearance here in blogland the past few weeks. I may not have been posting, but I've been lurking and reading...I'm going to try to post more often again.

Until I do...try to enjoy your view...I'm doing all I can to enjoy mine.

Slowly...

Slowly...
Silently...
The sun rises above the horizon.

Slowly...
Silently...
The Promises are Renewed.

The Promise of Light...
The Promise of Peace...
The Promise of Joy...
The Promise of Hope...
The Promise of A New View.

The Promises may seem to be a trickle of rain...
Yet when embraced and accepted,
They form a mighty deluge...
That washes away all that has come before.

Slowly...
Silently...
The unwritten future begins.

I Should Have Known Better

I really should have known better. I should have held my tongue. I should never have written that there were a couple important dates coming up in my future. I should have just shut the hell up and gone with the flow.

Instead I opened my mouth and spouted off about how wonderful everything was....TB had a deadline...the papers either were signed or they weren't and we were in court...either way, things would finally have been over tomorrow...you seeing a pattern to the words I'm using yet??

Late on Thursday, my lawyer was involved in a conference call with the Judge and TB's lawyer. The outcome of this call was that TB has an extra 2 weeks to get the signed paperwork to me before we go back into court. I'm not sure if the Judge is giving TB this extra time so that she can hang herself with non-compliance or if it's because (as my lawyer said) the Judge reviewed my financial reporting and is trying to save me the extra expense of going to court. Either way...it all boils down to the same thing - I opened my mouth and now I'm paying the price.

I know better...really I do...but I got so caught up in the joy of this nightmare almost being over that I just went with it. So now I'm going to just sit here quietly and gaze out at the view before me...trying to still my mind while I wait for what may be final paperwork....whenever it finally gets here.

As always, I hope that each of you are able to enjoy the view before you. Please know that I'm thinking of each of you...I promise to be back soon.

A Thousand Apologies

I hope that you all can forgive me...I haven't been the most attentive blogger-buddy in the world the past couple days and I probably won't be for the next couple either.

Last Thursday, my lawyer and TB's lawyer met to discuss the case prior to our court date on the 14th. My lawyer was told that he was to leave the moment that TB's lawyer started saying anything other than 'My client has signed (or is willing to sign) the document.' You see...TB has already been told by the judge that a directed verdict against her will be entered if we show up in court on the 14th, so at this point in the game I don't have to and I'm not going to negotiate anything.

Late Friday I heard from my lawyer, who said that TB's lawyer says she's willing to sign the settlement. Normally this would be good news, but we've been in this situation on 7 other occasions and each time TB has backed out of the agreement at the last minute. I told my lawyer that the only way I would agree to the settlement at this stage of the game was if we received signed paperwork from TB before 8:30 AM on Friday. Why 8:30 AM on Friday?? Simple, I'm entitled to a minimum of 72 hours to review any paperwork prior to responding. Since we're in court a week from Wednesday I need to reply yes or no on Monday so if necessary we can be in court. If the paperwork is changed from the original document (other than the date and TB's signature) or if the paperwork is late then we're going to court.

I'm having trouble focusing on much of anything else...admittedly my new diet and meditation are helping a little, but not enough.

Again...sorry for my Claude Rains impression (bonus points for anyone that can tell me what I mean by that reference). I hope you all are enjoying your own views...mine is filled with the hope that this is finally over...and that's a good thing.
